Kate Lewis is a versatile and experienced barrister with a broad practice spanning family, criminal and civil law. She joined Pendragon Chambers in 2024 after completing pupillage with the Crown Prosecution Service, bringing with her a distinctive professional journey that underpins her practical and client-focused approach. 

Kate combines strong advocacy with a grounded, practical approach shaped by her military service. She is known for her thorough preparation, clear advice, and commitment to achieving the best possible outcome for her clients.

Kate is based across South Wales and Hertfordshire and accepts instructions throughout England and Wales across a range of areas, with particular expertise in:

Family – Children

Kate is regularly instructed in complex private family matters. She also undertakes public law children work and is experienced in sensitive and high-stakes proceedings.

Civil & Employment
Kate undertakes a range of civil work including personal injury, road traffic accidents, employment tribunals.

Public Law
Kate is experienced in public law matters including Judicial Review.  

Criminal Law & Court Martial Work
Kate undertook her pupillage with the Crown Prosecution Service and retains her work in privately paid criminal matters and has a particular interest in representing Armed Forces personnel and veterans, including court martial proceedings.

Equine Law

Kate is a keen equestrian and holds a particular interest in all areas of Equine Law from sales and livery disputes, professional sporting contracts and Equine business.

Mediation

Kate is a qualified civil and commercial law mediator and registered with the Dubai International Arbitration Centre.

Prior to coming to the Bar, Kate served in the British Army, joining straight from school and being posted to Germany during the invasion of Iraq in 2003. Following her military service, she undertook a range of roles across the UK and Cyprus, including investigating international fraud, delivering training to Army recruits, and advising a University Health Board in relation to its involvement in the Infected Blood Inquiry. This breadth of experience informs her pragmatic, disciplined and resilient approach to legal practice.

She accepts instructions on a Direct Access basis in appropriate cases.

VAT details are available upon request and are provided on our initial acknowledgement letter which is generated upon receipt of your Brief or instruction to Counsel. It is also provided upon our fee note to our client.
